Does the light come on after you've moved ? or stay on after the car is started ?

if the pedal is solid it will be a pressure fault
does the handbrake light come on at the same time (or stay on and not go off) ?

and does the pump stop buzzing after about 20 seconds or does it run on and on and on for ages?

i remember someone else had this problem and it was a short in one of the wires which was letting hte pump over run

I had this problem, there is a small canister near the MAP sensor, one pipe goes to the engine, the other to the brake system. If the pipe has come off look down and under the brake distribution block you should see it T'ed in.

Its worth a check, good luck.

(My motor had burnt out so had to replace that first, if you can hear the motor running, it should be ok, but with the pipe off the canistor the motor will keep running and burn it out!)
