Recently upgraded the whole brake system including the servo and m/c, when i bolted everything back up and took it out to start bedding in the new discs/pads it sounded like a tank! the previous owner had fitted a ashley exhaust which is quite loud anyway but it sounds rediculous now, i had a look at the exhaust to see if i caught it with the jack or anything and it looks ok and is still quite new so it wont be corrosion. The only thing i can think of is the air cleaner hose from airbox to throttle body as this is the only other part that was removed as to gain better access to the brake servo, i've taken it off and inspected it and it seems to have a nick in it about 10mm long but its under where the jubilee clip sits, would this cause the extra racket as it now sounds like a car with a cone filter fitted, could it also be causing the rough idling?

You reckon it would be causing the problem even if the split is under the jubilee clip?
