Here are my photos from Friday at Goodwood.









































































In the morning Paddy Hopkirk had a half roll in the mini and put it onto its side, fortunately there wasn't much damage.

















Then came this accident The Aston Martin came past us with half the car on the grass and half the car on the road, he then lost the back of the car and hit the bales nearly head on another 25 metres or so further up the track before spinning to a halt It was the most violent accident I've ever witnessed and the front of the car looked like it exploded on impact. Fortunately the driver was uninjured but sadly a spectator got injured by flying debris, hopefully it was only cuts and bruises.

Did you see the mcrae car running? if so what was it like?

 

I didn't see the McRae car running We had a really good spot next to the hill so we didn't want to leave it, by the time we got to the rally area it was the lunch break I'll hopefully see it tomorrow.

I saw it and got this photo it was hard to judge how well it was compared to the current wrc cars but it looked quick and he certainly was not holding back!

not suprised he crashed. Looks like he was going way too fast for the conditions IMO

Maybe let the occasion get the better of him ??

Was it a professional driver or just a 'normal' person ??

 

I think it was a professional driver because it was the Prodrive rallycar.

One of the pilots had a broken wrist he broke it in a "domestic accident"

 

You have to understand what the festival is all about, this guy was giving the crowd what they wanted, it's called the festival of speed and yes he was speeding, but this is done in controlled conditions.
He was actually going slowly compared to some of the other cars too
the Toyota Tacoma pikes peak car looked like it was going twice as fast and in the past F1 cars have crashed as well, so everyone gets it wrong at some point-still the best motorsport event I have ever been to or heard of

 

That Toyota pikes peak pickup was going so quickly I agree. God knows how fast he actually got up to but it looked faster than the F1 cars
