Default mobile phone dilema

right, my phones been playing up, keeps crashing and switching off, and its seen better days, i have had it for 12 months so i decided to ring and ask for an upgrade

seems i have signed a 18 month contract and cant have a new phone till december

was thinking of buying a pay as you go, but ideally dont wanna spend loads of cash.

anyway i can get a new phone? dont have insurance i think (will check my bills)

have heard some places buy out old contracts etc, any suggestions guys??

or does anyone here get hold of cheap phones??

Is your old phone not under warranty. Both My Sony k800i and My Nokia N95 have 2 year warranties. Just had my k800 repaired even though i've allready upgraded to the n95

Phones 4 U sometimes buy out your contract.

my sister went with them for an orange phone - gave her £80 in her pocket and the 2 months line rental she would be incurring too.

blackberry are only any good if you have an exchange server and a BES server so it synchronises, otherwise you are forever deleting and re-reading mail you've already read and it does your head in

Who told you that? A corporate BlackBerry requires a BES server yes, but this will work with Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino or Novell Groupwise e-mail servers, not just Exchange. However, a personal BlackBerry doesnt link to a BES and instead connects via POP3/SMTP/IMAP connections for e-mail (which you can then specify whether deleting mail off the BlackBerry deletes mail in the mailbox etc), hence the sexy BlackBerry Pearl is available not just to business customers!

keep your eyes peeled on the carphone warehouse web site, under 'clearance phones'

these are phones that have been returned within 14 days when dispatched on contract. they are then fully checked over, resealed and sold cheep cheep on pay and go.

also keep an eye on play.com some excellent, cheap phones on there.

the phone market is SOOOO unstable at the moment, ie. you have your eye on a phone, you go to buy it for £170 ish quid, then 2 weeks later it's only £90 brand new

eg. nokia 6300, they are only about £90 now, they were a couple of hundred 2 months ago! bloody good phone aswell, apart from the odd bluetooth fault.

Unless I'm missing something, I think these are some of the best mobile phone offers I've ever seen i.e 12 month contracts with 11 months free and phone for free etc

Check this one out:

O2, 600 min + 500 sms, 12 month contract, FREE phone, £40.00 per month with 11 Months FREE saving £440.00, equivalent monthly cost £3.33??!!
