How the hell could they be classed as normal on you?

On the plus side m8 at least you know the major things are ok I'm still waiting for some test results and thats been almost 3 weeks It can be a worrying time. You'll find stress relates to a lot of things as well ...

I thought they checked for diabeties when they do a blood test as standard? I have a blood test done every year at the hospital & they check for diabetes because my dad's diabetic. Hope you get yourself sorted soon mate

they test for whatever the doctor asks for... nothing is standard

there are some tests that are common (ie full blood count, urea, creatanine, electrolytes) and are asked for 90% of the time... but even they wont get done unless the doc asks for them.

also any acredited lab will process every sample SAME DAY for 95% of the tests... most have to do it within a few hours of the sample arriving (as some of the results can be wrong if the same is more thana fe hours old) the reason why it seems to take forever is that it takes ages for GPs to bother to get the results, most just wait for em to turn up in the post, then wait a few days before openieng em n looking at them, then a few more days for them to bother to ring you.

just to eb a complete geek i've prepared an essay (ie i googled then copied and pasted )

The tests for blood electrolytes measure certain essential elements and chemical substances that are required for basic body functions. Typically the test measures the levels of sodium, potassium, chloride, and bicarbonate in the body. In addition, certain other related substances in the blood are often measured along with the electrolytes, such as blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, and glucose. Sometimes this entire group of tests is referred to as blood chemistries, electrolytes, or just lytes. Taken all together, these substances determine how the liquid parts of the blood behave as a chemical solution.

ps look here its quite a good read on bloodtests:
