Default rear beam

is a rear beam out of a 4wd escort cossy weaker than a 2wd beam as iam going to do the rwd conversion on my escort and just whant to no weather i have to change the rear end iam going for big bhp so strogest will be best so could some one give a bit of advise thank youuuuu

as for the beam, i dont think there is much difference

though a 3dr ir different to a saff

I thought 4x4's had a 7" rear diff and the 2wd's had a 7.5" - or something like that anyway

Spiky, yes its up for sale but now thinking off keeping it and making it rwd unless the price is right and i will let it go .......so as for the beam i was told to use a 2wd one because its stronger is that true iam puting big hp throught and a 9inch rear diff

trailing arms are identical - driveshaft cups and shafts are the only difference

the beam where the diff mounts is different.

so is the 4+4 beam weaker and dosent 9" rear diff twist the beam

3dr trailing arms are technically different to Sapph ones - the antirollbar mounts in a different position..

a 9" diff wont fit in a 4x4 rear beam!
just use a 2wd saff one and double skin it.plus weld triangles on the swing arm pick up points.that will be strong enough.
or idealy put a square beam in.

oh thank you some one aswerd my question ....3would any one be intrested in al my 4+4 bits as i need all the 2wd bits so if any one whants to do a swap with all the bits then get in toch if not then its up for sale .........conversion will be done in 2 weeks from now thank you all
