I worked with a guy that had a cooper when they came out and got in the queue for the S straight away.

He had the cooper about a year I guess, then got his Cooper S in that baby blue colour with all the leather chilli pack etc. After 2 weeks of having it he had some stuff done to it and had the rolling road print out at 212 bhp with 220something lbs of torque.

It was pretty fooking quick and an absolute laugh.

Not overly keen on the build quailty though, bits kept falling off although they were both pretty reliable and if you buy new the warranty is second to none.

If its for your missus its worth it for the warranty alone and the piece of mind for you

I have one, they're great little cars, especially when they're tuned , only down side is they're crap on fuel, worse than my old Escort Cosworth

A proper one or the new BMW .

The BMW 'S' is a nice car but lacking outright performance, my daughter may well be buying one .
The orginal was a legend winning World Rallies & Saloon car titles, had several modified ones & they were very fast in the mid 1960's.

Isn't there a company that's pushing 300bhp out of one?

I'm quite fond of the things. They really aint that Mini though are they. Should have called it a Big instead

yeah there's a few european works versions out there, some claiming 300bhp and more. not a bad hike from the 163bhp lump. they aint that quick in stock form tho IMO, just another fast road car, not rapid tho but thats the bueaty of supercharged cars, sooooo smooth

Theyre very handy cars in the twisties,we've had one on order for nearly 5 months now and still waiting.

Id say buy one, they hold their money so well and 5yrs servicing for Ł100,great deal

Wicked cars

Rod they make lack pace compared to your Sierra but in the real world they are quick cars! and I am pretty sure NONE of your ones from the 1960's would even see which way one went! I've driven a standard and a works one and was very impressed

Bought my little sister a normal cooper... Even that goes ok

i don't like Type R's - they are just a Saxo VTS for bigger boys

a muppet around my way thinks his mates will "piss mine easily" going to have to hand out some discipline
