Default Advise on my brakes

Right guys and girls,

After frying ANOTHER set of brakes on Monday @ Brands i need some advise on which way to go. i would like to keep the standard wheels BUT may have to go for bigger wheels and AP's which i dont want to do if i can avoid it. so what do i do? the options are:-

1) Hi-Spec Monster 6 conversion and keep the standard wheels and hope that i wont kill them again at the next track day therefore wasting 1200 quid.

or

2)AP's with 6pots plus new wheels. But be safe in the knowledge that i wont kill these buggers BUT at @ Nearly 3k its going to take some serious groveling to the missus and i dont recon i will have them before christmas is here/ over!

All USEFUL advise welcome please

i have covered 30,000 hard miles on my Monster 6 380mm Hi specs and never had a problem
The longivity will depend on the pads used (DS2500 is my recommendation).
I have sold loads of kits and everyone has given positive feedback on them.
I have done Nurburg 6 times on them (84 laps) along with brands etc etc, and never had an issue with brake fade. I am on my 1st set of rotors, and 2nd set of pads.
Goodridge lines allround.
Highly recommended. 10% off through me too.

I belive tarox 6 pots and 315mm discs fit under the Std wheels? Mot sure where to get them from though

You DON'T need 6 pots unless you are going endurance racing, people just have them for the bling factor, AP 4 pot 330mm's would transform your car, and personally I wouldn't use anything except AP's or Brembos or Tarox.......

The only thing I would say about Chris's advice is that the 380mm x 32mm Monster 6 brake kit uses top notch Performance Friction discs, where as the 310x28mm disc are a BMW disc with the centres machine out for the fitment of alloy bells. Obviously they will not be as good as the Performance Friction ones due to the superior quality of material and more crucially the larger size. So you can't make a direct comparison.

Also, it is the use of Ferodo DS2500 pads with your existing set up that has been the cause of warping the discs. Basically with the weight of your car, the small size of the discs and the small matter of 500bhp is just TOO MUCH for these pads, hence why switching to the DS3000s is the correct move in this instance. I think also, that I would also make them convert them to a floating arrangement (using the AP bobbins) for an additional Ł50, this would give the discs more of a fighting chance of staying true with the kind of abuse you give them .

Obviously with Chris's set-up, the DS2500s have no problem staying cool, due to the size of the discs on his car .

Looking for some big brakes for my escort cossie, what can you recomend and what prices are they.

Have seen some COMP 6 pots with 350x32mm discs, annodised bells and brackets, pads and goodrige hoses for Ł1040.

Have 18" Rondells on the car.

Many Thanks

I was a massive fan of TAROX, until someone showed me a set on an Escort in the workshop. When pressing the pedal you could actually see the calliper pushing apart /opening up!! Not good if you ask me. Could have been a faulty set, and I have supplied a few RS turbo's, and Golf's with no problems, but just put me off a bit.
