Default Water Temperature

my temp gauge went crazy after my coilpack conversion, so I thought the signal wire has an earth somewhere. I replaced the wire and connected the sensor directly to the Temp gauge, only to find out that it was in fact the sensor which was buggered. After replacing the sensor (a big thank you to Stu@MSD), the water temp seemed a bit high, and it was traced down to a non working fan. Replaced the fan switch, but the damn thing doesn't come on until the temp has passed the N. So the temp fluctuates between the red line and N at the moment. This doesn't seem right. Should I use the original harness for signal (maybe difference resistance in the wire?) or is my themostat not working?

How come the escos themostats cost so much more than the 2wd? How do I bleed the cooling system? I have a swirl pot, do I still need to bleed it for air?

Thanks for all the help

could well be the stat, a lot of people drill a couple of holes in the stat to allow the coolant to flow more freely

Arnie, the stats are 2 stage, hence more expensive, you can find a far cheaper alternative to a genuine ford one in my webshop.

one year on, and the temperature issue still not sorted, although I haven't been driving it much (200miles in a year). I did a search and found that I can fit a saff cosworth switch and drops the opening temp to 88ish degree's but more importantly fires up both fans (unlike the staged setup on a Escort!).

Does anyone have more info on this conversion?
