just stripped my engine down to find it is fitted with group a head gasket and the bloc is wire rung just how reliable is this set up and can it take much boost pressure

it will be fine m8 wire rining a block is old way of doing things but it does the job i had done a engine for a customer not long ago the car runs 2.5 bar on std comp and hasnt blown up yet

my car runs 2.5 bar with this set up and has been reliable for well over 10k miles now

IF its been done correctly (.6mm deep groove and 1mm welding wire) it will be good.

Make sure your head gasket lines up with the rings perfectly though as some head gaskets seem to be slightly out of line.

before people were introduced to WRC set up's, most big power cars run like this!

My new lumps been wire rung sod forking out 300+ everytime you whip the head off!

Paul Bayley's Cossie engined Escort Mk 2 ran T4 turbo, 2.2 BAR boost and wire rings from 1993 through to 2005 with 100% reliability.

had nowt but bother with mine. finished up shaving 0.75mm off block face and going cometic
