Default cosworth help 2wd

hi all got my 2wd 90 cos the other night, starts and runs fine, but, when accelerating hard, sometimes it smoothly cuts off the power at around 5k?and others its ok???
its on a fresh build 205 block, greens 3 bar only running 18psi as only done 1500 miles so far,any clues?
got me stumped as its intermittent, its not fuel cut as it just tails off smoothly and still the revs climb, also amal valve is bypassed???HELP

Could be the coil, ie running out of spark, especially if it is the standard coil ie not group a ?

Hi,

May be TPS sensor dirty.
Check your engine with TPS disconnected, if OK, it was that problem.
In case, undo, open it carefully, clean carefully with alcohol tracks of TPS.

Regards

Claude

Coil just bolts on in the same screw holes, the braket has elongated holes.
The + & - markings are hidden, between the two spade terminals.
Hold coil so it(terminals)are facing you and then look down between them, took me a few minutes!!
Best mod I ever did to be honest, along with MAGNECOR LEADS.

right coil now fitted, and i have NEVER heard a cossie idle so smoothly!!!
it doesnt even pop or anything, just smooth, ive had 7 over the years and now wish id done this to al,it just seems so happy now...
now on to my next job, lol, its had a rebuild,1500 mile ago,so just run in,spec is basically 7.5;1 cr all new seals everything you do etc,now i got it thurs night, and all was well, drove back steady from gatwick around 45 miles, done about 10since,and thought id do an oil change as it sounded a bit rattly/cammy when put under a steady load from about 3krpm,the oil that came out id guess was mobil 1 as it was like water and the engine was cold, ive put a good 10/40 back, but just hope its ok??
could it have done damage?
it has a rattly lifter when idling anyway so ive gotta do that?just unsure whether to just do that first or take it to a specialist for a check???!!
help ive only just bought the damn thing and its started already!!!lol

oh well at least i know i can use it and have some fun over the w/end!!!
tappets anyone??

10/40 TOO thin.
Use a thicker oil, I use SILKOLENE PRO S, which is a 10/50, ESTER OIL, and then tell us the noise has stopped after a run!!
I take it you were impressed with the group a coil then!!, pity ford did not fit these to start with, you can also open your plugs up to around 0.9mm. now as well for even better running.
I bought my oil from OPIE OILS on here £40 delivered, well worth it.

yes i agree its a huge shame ford did not fit from factory!
then again,17 years ago they probably didnt have em,lol,it certainly responds very well to it,and ive upped my boost now to 22psi,where it will stay until it goes on the rollers to be checked and raised to prob 25/26psi?(stg 3 3 bar map green 803s chip etc low comp 7.5;1) but what a difference it makes just 4 psi more and the coil and it flies!!!
thinkin im gonna enjoy my cossie more and more lol!

It was made before the cossie was made, and fitted to LANCIA, as it is the same ECU near enough on some of them so use same components.
L8 ecu almost identical to FIAT COUPE 20V TURBO, ecu!!

ps I think ford are just skinflints!
I am glad you are happy as people are "attacking me", in the sierra/cossie/rs500 section!!
