right....

the car is now running but heres deffo a problem with it.

plesae excuse my vague discriptions but im not too sure on the names of things..

in order to get it running we had to remove part of the ducting on the airbox its the round thing that covers a large circular diaphram/valve. between the distributor and the ignition coil. we had to gently press it down just so it would start but it kept stalling. we then rolled the car onto the drive so it was pointing down hill and after 10 minutes its started fine and altho abit lumpy it didnt stall.

help whats going on with it?

ive kinda narrowed the problem down. for some reason its not getting enough air when starting.
ontop of the air filter is a silver thing with loads of red wires coming from it, behind that is the air pipe which is in two pieces. if i take the first round bit of theres a flap underneath. hope u know what im talkin about.

if i keep both bits or pipe connected to there source and justseperate them slightly at the join, the car will start but stall so i have to start the car with the parts seperated and push the pipes together before it stalls then it will run fine... well ish boit lumpy but i can live with that.

what could it be?

theres an air leak somewhere.

But what i mean is, the flap on a XR3i lifts up, it doesn't push down

maybe it's sticking up and it's metering too much fuel through, thats why it'll start when he pushes it down or separates the pipe??

I don't really as much as others on here but just floating an idea
