Default car feels like it has a rev limiter when it hits boost

im having trouble with the motor(mk2 escort cossie)when it comes up on a bit of boost it seems to hit like a limiter then or back fire's slighty.i replaced the 3-bar map sensor today but still the same,new plugs as well.pissing me off now was wondering if any of you guys could sheed a little light on it and guide me a little please.

cheers guys ,but how do i go about looking to sort the faults out,is there any thing i can look at or test on my own over these possible problems?

what boost are you running? drop the boost bit by bit and see if it stops cutting out.

i tryed that pryer to fitting a new map sensor to no avail,i will try it again tomorrow tho now the new item is on.its running about 28 psi at present bud

this forums fucking wank! all these cossie owners leave someone whos never even been in one to try and advise .

does the ecu cut if the acts get too high?
has it got a knock sensor? timing could be miles out?
air leak?

cheers fella,i thought this was THE place for cossie info and advice.so i thank you for your time m8.am putting a new crank sensor,temp sensor and air sensor(think thats what it is) on tomorrow and will try this next.
thanks again m8 for yoyur reply ,timing is spot on i will look as well tomorrow for any air leaks as well

What plug gaps are you running ?, have you got a group a coil ?
Don't go wasting your money just replacing stuff, all those you list will not cause this.

think the gaps are .5mm and yes it is running a group a coil

Had a similar problem with mine, turned out to be a dodgy plug, the ceramic body had a hairline crack in it, replacing it cured it for good.

thank you very much to the few people that replyed to my question.the car is now sorted and running fine.it turns out that it was the crank sensor.
