Just had a few patches welded on the underside, rear wheel bearings and a track rod end so put it in for test today and it failed on 3 things; handbrake cable, balljoint and emissions, which, on the whole isn't too bad as far as i am concerned!

So, how can the emissions be adjusted to a respectable level?

 

get your wallet out and go see a tuner

Car is overfuelling a touch as it is, so i know that needs adressed soonish.

Any other way to get around it?

 

well you can turn the mixture scerw to get them down but then i would bet money it'll be running lean at the top end then (or leaner if it isn't already leaning out)

 

Find an MOT tester not too bothered about emmissions....

Why? I've got PU bushes on my MkIV. When I bought new TCAs I just binned the new rubber bushes and stuck some proper PU ones in there...

Update... Passed now

Emissions, first test were at 9.99%, which failed, my main man adjusted the mixture enough an got it down to 0.74 which it passed at!

Will need adjusted back up a bit, but im well chuffed, 12months ticket and some wee odds and ends sorted, superb

 

Don't get booting it around until the mixture has been returned to its previous state!

Deffo! What harm will it do if it was left? Also, should i notice alot more MPG?

I doubt you'll notice that much difference in the fuel consumpation at all.

To be fair its running very rich at idle which can be equally as bad, you'd do well to have it set up on a rolling road.

wouldn't do it yourself mate it needs to go on a machine really, guessing will only make it worse unless your VERY lucky

 

Coldo, really u should get it back up to AVA (with the change(s) they told you to get done before they could set it up proper (actuator was it?)?) kill 2 birds with one stone!

Hitting myself on the head, I thought this was a recent post now I realise it's about 2 years old

used to have one about 3 years ago, one of those cars I had to have when I passed my test but never lasted long when I couldn't afford to keep it, only had it 6 months I think

 

Pretty much the same as me. Had it when i was at uni, stacking shelves in tesco for £600 a month, RS cost me that just to run/repair/keep on the road
