Default Help with ebay scammer

Just sold a phone on ebay. The winner had a feedback score of 78, but sent me the following email, even though I specified Paypal only:

Hi, Before i pay for the item i wanted to know if you would accept a pick up, it would save you money on paypal and if you want i would help in crediting your final value fee, that way you would get exactly the ammount i won the auction for (£100) and won't have to pay any fees, but only problem is that i want to pick it up tomorrow, because i need a phone asap, so if you can do tomorrow then please let me know now and please give me a time scale, because i would be coming from London.. Please advise.. Many thanks..

Anyhoo, I declined his kind offer, and he paid by Paypal, but still seemed strangely obsessed with picking the phone up. Obviously I suspected a Charge-back type scam, so refunded his money and reported it to ebay.

My question is: can he still neg me though?

i would think so. if hes paid and you backed out then a negative feedback will probably be heading your way.

he may of just wanted to pick it up in person, so if you knocked him he'll be within his right to at least give you neg feedback!

Not that mate; don't trust fuckers these days, I'd rather a cheque or PO, that way I don't get stung with fake cash or chargebacks.

It's the last thing I'll sell on ebay, that's for sure.

imagine you were an unscrupilius ebay member
chrageback is when you pay for soemthing
the seller posts it to you
you give it a few weeks
then send shitty emails to the seller
and to ebay
and to paypal
and paypal give you your money back after removing it from the sellers account
all the while, you have your items because they've been delivered but you are trying to be a devious so and so

not you personaly you understand but it's the way that some roobing coounting bastids have started to get money back for stuff theyhave already recived

problem is that you, as the seller, are fucked no matter what, even if you can proove that it was sent and signed for and all osrts of shit

Thats what I was thinking.

Ebay is a gamble these days and we take the gamble selling things on there.

If you dont want to take these currencies then sell it in Friday Ads. Sorted.

Aslong as you send it to the buyers verified address the seller IS covered too !

I dont send anything unless its to a verified address and my items are always sent recorded delivery and buyers are always made aware of this in my auctions incase they want to try " It hasnt turned up " scam

Exactly what I'm worried about, as it's a bloody foreigner registered in the UK who's bought my phone. Are Paypal being their usual unhelpful selves then?

Doesn't help matters that all the credit card bods hate Paypal with a passion.
