I have no juice coming through either wire to the amal valve when ignition switched on. Can anyone tell me which one is supposed to have a switched live & where does it gp back to from the amal valve so i can start tracing the fault.

Cheers Simon.

Stu, the amal's are fed from unfused igniton supplies which are black, red is a constant feed

So is it the black wire with thin red stripe that is the live on the amal wiring, where does it get its feed from, so i can check at that point. I'm now wondering if the amal on mine is used anyway as it has a Pectel 10 position boost control knob on the dash & pectel loom, the amal is still wired up though & plumbed into actuator.

Cheers Simon.

its quite important to know what colour that wire is, if its solid black its an un-fused feed, if its black with a stripe it'll be a fused feed so you could for example have a blown fuse.........

Have you tried wiring 12v directly across the AMAL to see if it works?

Its definately a black wire with small red stripe, the other wire is brown with yellow stripe which is the earth from ECU. All i have done is to use a test probe to see if i have power on the black wire when the ignition is switched on & i don't have any power. If i can't trace the fuse or the wire can i run another fused ignition switched live to the amal. I don't really under stand how the amal works, im' wondering if as long as it has the earth from the ECU whether i can just run power to it on the other spade terminal on the amal ? Really appricate your help.

Cheers Simon.

right so you need to get some wiring diagrams out and see where the the wire comes from, that could well be fused but not always.

The amal has an ignition feed and the ECU switches the earth when its required

So does the Amal get its power feed from the fuel pump relay ? I take it the fuel pump relay is somewhere behind the glovebox , its a 1991 4x4 Sapphire, what colour is the relay & where is it ?

Cheers Simon.

The ISCV and Amal valve are on teh same live circuit as teh fuel pump. Both ONLY work wit the engine RUNNING.

You are testing with the engine running arent you?

Easiest test, unplug it with engine idling. It should click.

Dohhhhhhh as homer would say i was testing with ignition on only

Yes i do have power to Amal valve with engine running ( tested with probe ) but Amal does'nt click when the live feed is connected/disconnected with engine running so either its not getting an earth from the ECU or the Amal's faulty. Suspect new Amal Valve required.

Thanks for the help much appriciated

Cheers Simon.
