every team in the land will claim to have the best most loyal fans who will all claim to have supported their team week in week out ,even through their darkest days . i mean look at rangers. about 50000 fans attend home games and they will all claim to have been at every game in the 80's before they started winning things even though the attendances then were only about 5000
.its easy to support a team that wins all the time. its the supporters of the diddy teams that rarely win anything that are the real most loyal supporters imo.and the glory hunters that have a local big team yet choose to 'support' one of the winning teams from another city are the worst. edinburgh's full of rangers and celtic supporters when we have 2 decent teams of our own. (well 1 decent team and then theres hibs
)supporters of my team ,Hearts fc, like me,have travelled to see them get humped all over europe. occasionally we get a good result and its like winning the world cup.it means more because it doesnt happen so often.big teams are like, "woopee weve won the league again, great, whats on the tv luv?"

And Lynn before u say it i know every team has its yobs

and tbh newcastle, they havnt won nothing for years, but that doesnt stop them following them all over, and selling out st james's. a couple of my best mates are newcastle fans, never miss a game, home away, league, cup, europe, doesnt matter, if newcastle are playing, they are going, they have spent tens of thousands, litterally, in the last 10 years that ive known them, and as said, for nothing apart from the love of the club, so newcastle have to be up there with the best of them.

Oi
I go up to Hearts every so often now a few lads up there.
Thing is if Liverpool some how went down to the second division ( not likey I know) would they still have so many fans? Newcastle defo would. And for the record I support Sunderland so not taking the horrible cunts side
Btw we've got pretty loyal fans

All you N*wcastle lovers are nuts. Look down the road for loyal fans! Sunderland regularly have 3rd and 4th highest attendance in the country, take one of the largest away crowds to games (midweek included), regularly get relegated and we havent won any MAJOR trophy since 1973!!
Remember befor Keegan when St Jokers Park was less than half fulland Ossie Ardiles was the gaffer, you deserted your team big style and only came back when the glory(?) days arrived.
Oh, and before anyone comments, this hasnt just happened this year since Mr Keanes arrival, we were getting good support even when Howard Wilkinson was in charge!

Agree with Fuzzy.
There's a difference between going to a big game on your doorstep and driving hundreds of miles to play Inverness and Stranraer on a cold wet December night.
That seperates the loyal fans from the glory hunters.

Its not hard to be a loyal fan when your team is doing well. Its when your team is in the shit you really see what your support is like. Take Leeds, Sheff Wednesday & Forest - where are their 30,000+ a week attendences gone now?
Fans that most impressed me are Man City, we played them in League 1 (was Div 2 then) at Maine road and the attendence that night was 32,000! Not many so called "big clubs" would manage that vs Luton lol.
I concider myself to be a "real" fan, supporting my team home and away and had a season ticket for the passed 9 seasons - in 3 different leagues.
I feel sorry for Man U, liverpool & chelsea fans etc. Do they really appreciate sucess as much as lower league fans? I doubt it.

As much as it kills me to say it, you have to include the Celtic fans up there. They travel in massive numbers all over the place. Every English Premiership club wants to play them in testimonials as they will always bring a huge support.
When Celtic got through to the UEFA Cup Final in Seville a few years ago, they reckon that nearly 100,000 fans travelled. A massive 2% of total worldwide air travel that day.
Agree with the shouts for Man City also, the average crowds that they kept were outstanding.
But I would say fans of wee teams that never win anything are most loyal, they don't take things for granted and all they wish for is 1 day of glory in the sun. I'm a Motherwell Fan and I got that day in 1991 when we won the Scottish Cup, god knows when it will happen again.

but i agree with the point that you lose attendance when your team is doing shit. look at wigan this season. i see there game the other week on MOTD and the ground was half empty. but when they was leading the championship and last season when they were playing well they had full houses.
i would say its very hard to judge who is the most loyal set of fans in the country as there are so many teams with great support. and supporters of lower league clubs will more than likely support one of the "big" clubs too (as they win stuff) i will support leeds till i die whether thats good for my health or not LOL but i will have a soft spot for man city as i spent 3 years there as a kid and i thoroughly enjoyed my time there and havent a bad word to say against the club or its support.

The club does have some very loyal fans, im not denying it, but the best in the country they certainly arent!
The whole club is rotten to the core!

And for the record, the best fans I have ever witnessed were Liverpool when they invaded Sunderland. No bother, friendly and good banter

Ps,when you talk about fans jumping on the winning band wagon etc, does that include all the clowns that jumped on the Romanov/Hearts band wagon last season that thought we are going to win the league(remember all the ''we are unbeatable'' etc etc etc, although am sure Edinburgh's real force stopped that and put you's in your place
Is that the same fans that have vanished of the face of the earth this season due to the fact that Hearts have become nothing more than a laughing stock this season due to having the biggest clown of a chairman ever???
Don't worry they might re-appear in 8-10 years when you manage to win a Scottish or League cup in that measly time
M'on the GERS!
