Default Maestro Track car (decisions)

We have got a testing day next week at Combe to make sure all is good and we have also booked a fair few track days.

I now have a spare YB sitting in the garage ready to be finished off, me and Ratty have been concidering mounting it into the Maestro at the end of the year and making it rear wheel drive

What are people thoughts on this

Just like the idea of 350bhp in what is at present a 795kg car, and it driving the right wheels, it would be a lot of work

What you reckon

Go for it or No Way

personally no, its fine as it is, 200bhp and lightweight is plenty.

its a cheap track car, as soon as u start doing things like that it become exspensive.

Sell the lump and put a few more horses through the MG engine, u know it can handle 250-300 no problems.

This is true and i understand about needing the complete package and power isnt everything, look at suspension, brakes, weight e.t.c.

But 350bhp would be a whole different ball game to just over 200bhp

Just a conversation were having at present

if you want 350bhp and RWD its a lot easier and cheaper to get a RWD, its not as if you can even use anything from the current car barring the basic shell.

if you want a rwd maeastro its pointless starting with one you have developed as FWD, as it will be back to square one.
Just buy an S14 if you want a rwd

I know what your saying Chip - but lighting up the rear wheels on a Maestro just has a certain appeal

Why dont you just wait and see how you get on this year? Once you get it through a few track days, you might have so much fun you cant be arsed with messing around again.

Personally i would wait and see how the car performs.

Enough appeal to put up with the fact you spent a load of time and money on your track car and its slower than an S14with a chip and a set of shocks?
As that is what would happen probably!

Be a shame to waste the Maestro engine though if fitted a YB so the O series needs a home
