Our BBQ this weekend (lots of pics!)
Thought I would stick up a few images of our BBQ on the bank holiday weekend.
First of all, deepest apologies to anyone looking at the pics who feels like they need glasses, most of the pictures were taken with no flash on a fairly slow shutter speed that the camera just happened to end up on and no tripod used, so they are blurry as fuck, but you get the idea at least.
Venue for the BBQ was mine and Stu's workshop, specifically the bit circled in this picture:

First to arrive was Stavros (from redline mag) with his latest purchase an S12 1.8 turbo nissan that he wanted the diff welding up on, so we told him to bring it down and we would do it.

Next on the scene was James who wanted me to have a quick look at his calibra to tweak the boost up a bit and have a go at tracking down a bit of a splutter.

Then legendary car snapper Mike Whitestone (AKA Beardy) arrived with family and a go kart.
His Mike giving it a quick test drive before handing it over to his son, who was tearing around in it for most of the night.

After that I kind of lost track as people started arriving pretty hecticly, so here are a few random shots about the place (light levels look different just due to dodgy photography, it wasnt actually taken some at night and some at day like it looks!)

BBQ Itself (made from an oil drum we found lieing around) in full swing:

I comondeered the kart at one point and it was a fantastic bit of fun in the massive expanse of our workshop.

Stavros decided to have a go too.

And promptly broke it, LMAO (chain came off, needed replacing really)
No broken vehicle is complete without Dan from fast ford near it, so he was on the scene in no time to stare pointlessly at it and not fix it, lol

Eventually it was up and running again, although after a bit more of a thrashing the chain decided it had really had enough, at which point mikes 8 year old daughter decided that rather than see her big borther miss out on driving his kart she would push him around in it, thats dedication to your brother that is!

Little Len proving he got that name for a reason, pictured here with Stu mongo and J

With the go kart dead it was FastFord Dan's turn to provide the entertainment so he got stuck into his own take on Tokyo Drift with a spot of indoor drifting in the fast ford drift sierra.

Started off well, properly committed and showing no fear.

But also showing no talent moments later as he totally misjudged it and twatted straight into a pillar arse first.

So some quick adjustments were made, and it was back into action for it:

Dan carried on like that for quite a while, and was most amusing to watch,

the sierra was clearly suffering from the impact though and the boot started to open itself as the catch was no longer holding

After that, we all headed out to Weston for the local car meet, sadly as I was driving at this point I got no pictures, but the important bit was that we discovered my 3 door is quicker than Rob's TME engined Evo, Im making a big deal of that now as I know after its remap next week it will then kick my arse so im making the most of it while I can, lol
Fair play to Rob though for having far more bottle than me on the (private off road reconstruction of for legal reasons) M5 and doing a sustained 160mph+ till he was just a dot in the distance for most folk!
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable evening, and I cant wait for the next one, to which, of course, you are all invited
Thanks to everyone who came along!

We were saying that a couple of minis or pandas or something would be a right laugh racing each other in there.
Feels MASSIVE in a go kart, the largest room in the workshop is actually approx 4 acres!
big up to the other stu for doing the cooking! was good stuff! although i did have the shits at work that night, dunno if it was related

Dan is actually pretty good in that sierra these days, certainly does a LOT better than most people could (definately including me!) but when you show that level of comitment on such a variable grip surface and going as close as he does to the pillars in there, its always got the potential for disaster (in fact I think in all the times he has been down he has yet to leave without having at least one crash, LOL)
He was frequently within less than a foot of the pillars!

Rich, the workshop is approx 6 acres in total, with 4 acres in the main room that you see in those pics.

The GoKart is mega fun in there, it was proper slow, but in that place its still mega fun, you cant see shit on a top speed run, eyes just streaming with water, just got to hope for the best, which is whats so much fun
And yeah, the chain was too lose, so soon as you drift it it comes off, hence why it only came off when me n fudgey was having goes in it

could make a decent kart track then
might i add that there is about a car and half width between posts, and i got it by wrong by a mere 2 inches
hey ho, all good fun and all that lol
i personally blame mongo for the slight scratch, as he was sat next to me and must have unbalanced the car
i think he had fun too, he must be getting used to people crashing with him in the car lol
ps sorted the boot lock out, smashed the fucker off with a hammer and the boot shuts now, but i coldnt get the bumper back on

The thing missing compared to normal get togethers was the drag racing though.

LMAO
Yes, good of you to point out JJ that you were in fact on the left, which is the known better side as Silver had gravel on his side (gone now after our concreting spree so wont be a problem in future
) to contend with, so thats why you appeared like you were quicker than him

M5 1, M3 0. Slight gravel doesnt account for the stunning start from the driver in the left who is clearly significantly faster off the line well before the gravel trap that may have affected him once it was all long over!
Also, Silver did not benefit from a run to realise that full throttle would simply result in wheelspin. My squeeze throttle approach was the real victory.n
Sadly I suspect I may not have him so easily next time!

dan i wasnt having a dig at yo mad driftin' skillz when i said you normally twat a pillar or two
but you do! hehe! think its just down the down right rediculous size of your love spuds mate
