Precisely!

Think the point thats trying to be made is why do you want to downgrade your brakes?

Calipers on my Cossie are twin pot, so getting 4pot calipers from a 2wd will be an upgrade!?

ahhhh fuck sorry i read the first post wrong

if the hubs are the same (i know little about sierra's) then they should fit!

Brake pipes may an issue though, being as a 2wd is rear driven, when we fit these calipers on Escorts the brake pipe connection points out at the CV joint.............

4 pots are way better than the single piston sliding caliper which are just about able to stop a bicycle!!
Rousesportcosworth, are you sure yours are two pot as they are only ever single piston sliding caliper of the "PROPER" ones four pots ?
4 pots will fit, just tap out lug holes to take a 12mm bolt and tap top suit, then straight on fit, you MAY need 1 or 2 1mm washers under lugs to just centralise a bit.
Having gone from 4x4 calipers/discs on my old sierra to 4 pots(cossie) the difference is like the difference between a milk float and a F1 car in performance terms!!
I recommend EBC REDSTUFF CERAMIC, under no circumstances use GREENSTUFF(V4)!!

Ford do tend to use the same SPACING on their calipers, as they use the same supplier for them so it makes life easy!!

Also bear in mind the possible reasons Ford didn't fit 4 pots to 4x4s:

1: Cost
2: braking power - 4 pot calipers are more powerful (waits to be corrected) than the single pot 4x4 ones, and could spell bad news for your front diff when used hard often. You'll need the advice of someone who's fitted proper front brakes to a 4x4 for a second opinion.

In addition, the 4x4 has vented rear discs to improve rear braking power, as opposed to 2wd solid discs which really are better suited to bicycles.

4x4 vented discs merely give more fade resistance, NOT stopping power as the size therefore the leverage ratio is the same.
It is due to having more rotating mass to slow ie extra driveshafts, transfer box, diff.

i got bracket's made up to bolt my 4pot's onto instead off tapping out the lug holes. iirc the calliper's needing spacing slightly i've not fitted them yet just kinda mocked them up. can you get away with using the 4x4 disk's?
