Default Headgasket for Zetec 1.8 16V??

30000 miles ago I renewed the headgasket on my runabout an Escort 1.8 16V. After pulling the head off it had a crack in it so I replaced it with a refurbished one including a new headgasket. But now it has start leaking cooling flued at the back of cilinder 1 .

A few questions:

1. Can I do a little heavier torque setting at the headbolts to see if it stops leaking and if so, what torque or degrees is wise to do?

2. My service manuel refered to use a similar headgasket that was on with a tooted lip located at cilinder 1. Unfortannelly I didnt look for this at the time and just ordered a headgasket. Is this very important?

3. And if so, how do I know which headgasket I have to use now with the refurbished head I put on?

Hopefully someone can tell me more.
