If I remember right, there's two styles of rubber coupling - one for the CVHs and one for everything else...I think. Definitely one for most, and another for the rest. There isn't a Cosworth specific one, so don't get duped by Cossie tax!

Not true, most have rubber type.
3 door original ones were metal joints at BOTH ends, NO rubber as far as I knew ?
If it is a metal joint at each end, the joints group4 are available from Rallye Design or Car builder solutions.
The LANDROVER DISCOVERY RUBBER JOINT part is the same as cossie.

4x4's have got U/J's on each end and the shaft is a couple of inches longer

I got a 4x4 one for my 2wd saph, then got it cut down/shortened then welded back up

Getting rid of the wank rubber part alltogether

The problem with the rubber part is it gets roasted by MR TURBO!!, like the engine mount on 2wd as well.
I prefer "PROPER" joints too, how much does a 4wd one cost please ?

If you remove the rubber coupling, won't you feel everything in your steering wheel? I've been wondering about this quite some time because the coupling on my car isn't that good anymore.
When you make a rigid connections will the PAS housing filter the irregularities out? The housing is suspended in rubbers so shouldn't emit too many juddering into the steering wheel.

i replaced/modified mine last week on my two wheel drive the rubber completely perished i couldn't find a new one anywhere as they come as a complete unit [from bottom of steering colum to rack] so i bought a new standard sierra rubber steering coupling from ebay for £8 the rubber is exactly the same as the cossie one so just change it over, you have to cut the two rivets of your one and nut and bolt the new one on[use high tensile bolts and locktight] works fine
