Default Can anyone help? I have a strange rattle.

Hello all

I have a 92 Saph Cossie and she has devoped a wierd rattle.

It only happens when you first start off, its like a ticking rattle from the front somewhere and is movement related, gets quicker when you go faster.

Then after 100 yards or so it stops. When you stop, turn the car off and come back minutes later it happens again then clears up. Does it every time.

Proper confused. Please help.

Hi i'm not an expert by any means but sounds like a sticky lifter or worn a worn cam belt tensioner or possibly a change oil/filter might do the job thats what i would check first do the cheap things fisrt before shelling out loads of dough.....

Its not coming from the engine. If you sit still and rev the engine it dont happen.

Sounds like its coming from the N/S/F wheel area.

Thanks for your help.

could be the caliper or pads, when they heat up metal expands might stop the rattle, when they cool down the rattle is back... just a tought.. paddy

Had the Saph up in the air at work this morning. The ticking noise was the exhaust hitting the propshaft at the front. Thank f**k thats all it was!

Got pushed up going over speed bumps.
