oops.wired up rev counter wire to pin 23 instead of 25, but seamed to read true readind instead of half(coil pack)
any answers to this ,would it cause any damageand and why does it seam to read correct when wired like this any answers please

Thats quite interesting

i wired mine up saterday to the correct pin and it reads half but have been told this is normal for cars with coilpacks as it wasn't designed to run with them,

but a freind of mine got motorsport wiring solutions to wire his in for him and they got his 1 reading correctly (full revs) too

is your friend running coil pack aswell

 

I want to know this as well , my guess would be that its getting a signal from the phase sensor that although turns half engine speed, sends 2 signals per revolution hence the secs reads correct, as you say the question is will this damage the secs monitor or the phase sensorin any way?

Pin 23, dont use that it will kill the monitor eventually or make your car run badly.

OK,

I have done a software update for the monitor to make coilpack conversion work.

The problem is the chips can only be bought in large quantitys (50+ )
and are on a 20 week delivery from the states.

I ordered some before xmas so it shouldnt be much longer.

Upgrades will be Ł10 from the new secs distributor to be anounced soon.
