Probably wont apply to many...but if anyone here owns a netgear sc101 storage central,DO NOT update the firmware or scm utility. I did and lost everything i have stored/backed up and its affected 1000's of others aswell.

whatever you do,DO NOT update the firmware or scm utility...if i was you i would not buy one as currently 150000 are having problems after upgrading firmware(hard drive failure,loss of data,sc101 failure after update) i wish i never bought one,i put 2 x 200 gb hard drives in and mirrored them,when 1 hard drive failed i found out that you cannot repair the mirror from the good one but have to save data to main hard drive,and then transfer it to the sc101 again. Trust me,dont buy one unless you dont mind losing data or like lots of misery.

One of customers bought a Buffalo one that works a treat. I personally dont trust anything with netgear stamped on it
