Default Laptop Guru's PC Question - Please Help

I have a mates laptop I was updating a Tiny P3 it had 98 which had been upgraded to ME so I had re installed ME and was updating IE to v6 rebooted and it came up with Non System Disk on reboot. After taking the disk out and putting it in my Toshiba and FDISK, Formatting and Re Installing from Scratch Windows ME the disk seemed fine ie stable. On putting it back into the Tiny Laptop again it says non system disk if you go into the BIOS it shows the Drive as Disabled tried resetting default BIOS settings but no difference ?? IMO Im pretty sure the HD controller has gone Would you agree ??

No reason why the controller would have gone after an upgrade really, maybe pulling the drive in/out has buggered the connections inside ?
U could try and see if you can get a more up to date bios from Tiny, maybe it needs a "reset".

Sorry can't think of anything else.

what happens if you set the HDD settings in bios manually?

does it even seek the drive or does it not spin up at all?

hard disk just shows as disabled in the BIOS ???? but you cant change the setting - its a fecking strange BIOS Im more used to Compaq, Tosh and Dell but I have been in all the settings etc and there just isnt anything to change it to enabled which makes me think disabled means it actually broken??

and cant be acble as there isnt one its just a slot in and plug
