my mate Merp has for the last ten years been tinkering with
a mk2 escort i found in a scrap yard, it had very minimal welding
and was way too good to be scrapped,so i bought it for 100 gbp
but the gaffers brother had raced it around the yard and slid it into
a midi skip and crunched the quarter,anyway fast fordward to now
and he is getting serious about it.
he just procured with a little bit of help from moi,a rs2000 engine and box
so i told him to ditch the 1600 x flow with twin 40's and shove the
rs2 engine and box in and get some twin 45's.
where can you find twin 45's,or what about bike carbs,
basically i told him to flog the x flow rally motor and whatever he gets for it all,spend it on the 2.litre.
what would you lot do with a genuine rs2000 motor with no carbs

what stage of tune is the rs2000 engine in?? ---use your 40's perfectly ok for a standard engine and capable of more when set up for more horses (chokes etc) road rallied (east midlands) mine on twin split 40's-went good!!!!!-------------big is not nes better!!!!!---------
old school group 1 was run on twin 40 d'draughts ------

thanks for the reply,
unfortunately the genuine rs2000 engine and box turned out to
be a genuine big valve RS MEXICO engine and box.(1.6 and gutless)
so plan b is,flog the mexico big valve engine and put the interchangable
alloy stuff on a standard 2.0 sierra pinto.
merp has just bought some carbs off a Yamaha R1 and
another mate of mine has a big valve head so its all going together
soon.
come on merp pull your thumb out your RS

not sure about the twin 40's group 1 bit
i understood it was 44idf's
