Default USB hands free car kit?

Ive got an SPV M3100 mobile phone.

I have a bluetooth hands free kit.

Fucking thing is doing my tits in, its forever losing the connection and is just generally unreliable, it works PERFECTLY on my old sony ericson so i know its not a fault with the car kit.

I am a firm believer in just sticking a wire in something if you want it to talk to something else, so i would like to get a hands free kit that plugs into the phone.

The "portable hands free" kit that came with the phone is on a mini usb type plug, so I assume that from somewhere I can get a car kit that does the same?

I do NOT want to buy a phone model specific one, as I tend not to keep my phones for long anyway, so is there a generic USB type of connection car kit available?

Chip.

Time for a new carkit I am afraid.

Have a look on the Parrot website either the CK3100 or the CK3000 evo should be fine.

Halfords are doing the later for £99.99 installed at the mo which is a good price.

The ck3100 is about £85.00 on ebay plus p+P at the mo I think and are a seriously good bit of kit.

The advantage of the Parrot stuff is that as they find issues they release software which you update yourself with your laptop via bluetooth... FOR FREE!!!!

They even have a forum.

Aternativly I am sure that THB do kits- but the later ones are also Bluetooth only. I may be able to get a price for supply only from work if you have no luck- I dont know any one who supplies them in the public domain.

Other than that try getting the software on your phone updated as it may have a bug.

DO NOT BUY A CK7W to use with it.... CK7W's work well with Nokia phones but in my experience do not work as well with anything else.

Cheers

Hi Chip

I have the exact same phone ( great minds eh!)

I have used a bluetooth proper handsfree car kit system (nokia and the Siemens) and they were both essentially shite.

I now use the LG Bluetooth earpiece type, which has been incredibly good!

I now have ceased my search for the car phone system in favour of this one, which works, and works well.

I will show you next time we see.

Actually, it is a standard USB2 port that has been adapted to also take the non-standard headphones that they supply.

If you plug a standard USB2 cable into it, it will work - I use my old XDA Exec cable with mine to sync and works and charges properly

That is true . Fucking aggravating, as I used to use my exec as a surrogate ipod, and have a nice set of Bose headphones! Lets hope the adaptor isnt a pile of shite.

you must be a very lucky person to have the same phone and it work...

Incidently I fit Handsfree kits for a living and quite simply cannot ever recomend a nokia CK7w for anything other than a nokia phone.

Also bare this in mind...

Ebay price wise A ck7w is about £70 delivered plus you will more than likely want a lead for your stereo- so you're talking another £10-20.
It also doesn't have half the functionality of the Parrot CK3100 which comes with an ISO audio lead in the box and the software is upgradeable for free.. where as the nokia is not- at all..

otherwise i'd have gone for one of those parrot ones

Ok- Let me have a butchers in my car- I might have a parrot one floating around which you can adapt it- I'll tell you how.

Or I will have the correct thing for the job....

What you need is an ISO audio lead.

Will cost your about £20 if you source it yourself.

Give me a day or so and I'll pm you- I'm not in the mood right now to go and rumage around the boot of my car.
