Default Fiat Punto probs

Bloke at work has got a P reg punto diesel

hes not long bought it from a garage and found it had an oil leak so he took it back, they say they have tightened stuff up, and he thinks they over filled it with oil as now, when ever he boots it, it pisses black smoke out the back and he litterally cant see the car behind

says its a bit better but still does it, and oil level is about right now

any ideas as i said id have a look at it for him?

well there's the fucking problem

If its oil, would it not be blue smoke?? I know the focus's suffer from sticky EGR valves on the diesles, so this makes them black smoke like fuck when booted. Could this not be the problem?

i dunno rich, the only knowledge of diesels i have is filling up the compay mondeo tdci and then raping the ass off it

i thought that about the burning oil etc, and dervs do smoke a bit, but it sounds like its pissing the stuff out on this car.

think he said its a 1.8 if that matters

well first of all, check that it isnt leaking any more oil, and that it isnt burning it either (keep an eye on the level)

Then it could be worth cleaning the egr valve if it has one (haynes manual). Over time they get full of carbon and just gum up. If its been driven by a biddy at no more than 2k rpm all its life then it will be clogged to fook. Just keep ranting it

Library dude

Um, it'll sit on the inlet somewhere, have a vaccuum pipe going to it...

Or try getting some 'diesel shit cleanout' stuff from hellfrauds!

well no fudge, it wont burn it out the exhaust if it is leaking, but if it was burning oil then it would be blue smoke.

Some 'diesel shit cleanout' stuff and a few foot to the floor trips up and down the M4 at 3 in the morning should sort it
