Default Dont think any car will ever feel that fast to me ever again

Not after today
I was officially more scared today than ever in my life

13000rpm and 2.3bar on dodgy B-roads in a car with about 1000bhp and weighs about a ton

Was scary enough at the best of times (0-160mph in 9.3secs at lower boost than was running today ) but when the car totally blows away the tyres as it hits 11500rpm and we wildly fishtail on a road barely wider than the car with grass banks either side, i may have actually shat my pants if it all didnt happen so fast i didnt have time to

I said "Woah, fuck" he said "yeah, at 11500 the bridgeport really kicks in, we could run a bit more boost actually, look"

Thing is, now im home, I want another go!

Judging by the bridgeport reference I'd say RX7!

Dragon's?

Veyron with a Bridgeport?
They only rev to something gay like 6k anyhow, and deffo aint as fast as this car!
Doubt the Veyron would feel scary at all TBH, ive done 197mph at Brunters in another car and that wasnt all that great.

Sorry, didnt realise i didnt say, yeah, the Dragon RX7.

I drove it round for a few hours too, but i didnt want to brake it so I drove like a total gaylord

Then Ross jumped in to the drivers seat and totally scared the shit outa me

Proof enough that its not a pure drag car is this old lady calling the police on us for drifting it on the road by her house

lol,was funny in ur text, "i nearly shat myself, ross is insane" and there i was giving it barry big balls in my lorry making it chatter down the back roads! i think your experience may have been faster! but then, try stopping 20 tons when youre going over 40mph down a narrow road!

Ive cured myself of my numbness to the sensation of speed by driving a 1.8 spi cavalier with 4 people and an engine in the boot and 200kgs of kit 1800 miles in the last 6 days, anything feels quick now :P

The matt black and gold Dragon Performance one, but yeah, got a couple of Opie Oils sponsor logos on it.

Deffo need to get an RX7, Rotaries are just off the charts, for a 1.3litre 1000bhp/13500rpm engine running a 1500bhp rated turbo it drives pretty damn nice, nicer than a GT35'd 2litre Cossie TBH, and an insane powerband.

Fuck, they worth it for the sound alone, bwap bwap bwap bwaaaaaaaaaaap etc etc, like the most badass chainsaw/moped ever Loves a bit of premix like they do too

Make a Veyron seem slow, truly properly frightning and cars dont ever remotely scare me normally, but SO addictive i need one, now

Exactly the same in every way mate apart from we was running a bit more boost than at TOTB if i remember right, and was running Nitto 555R road legal drag radials rather than the big non road legal jobs like most run at TOTB.

The roads and speeds we was driving on we'd deffo have came a cropper with the drag skinnies on front and slicks on rear

So I take its still a twin rotor engine or am I just being thick? I've heard some people have gone the triple rotor route and got BHP figures and rev ranges above the normal stuff!

Yes, twin rotor.

Triple rotor or quad rotor would mean less revs, same as going longer stroke on a normal engine.

But possibly more power, and deffo more torque (well, more for the same boost and general spec).

But when can get 1000bhp+ and 13000rpm+ from the 13B and all the fastest ones being 13B engined, there no mega hurry to swap!

Greg- No, ive not dared, but yeah, if i go dart i will use the big daddy turbo The one on ross's RX7 is almost the same size actually, only a tiny bit smaller

Hmm I heard that these twin rotors have a limit of around the 450 bhp mark for some reason but guess it looks like that one is proven me wrong again!

I bet it has a spec list as long as the Seven Bridge!

You ve got a bigger turbo than thats on that REX

Up at Jap fest last year when they fired it up the noise was unbelievable and almost unberable.

What changes have they made to the engine to allow it to spin upto to over 13000 rpm??

That most be a nice perk to your job to be able to get behind the wheel of some awesome cars

450bhp? On standard turbos thats about right

I can show you twin rotors running nigh on 200mph by the end of the quarter if you like

Specs pretty huge, but thats part of the beauty of rotorys, there no pistons, no rods, no cams, no valves, no head, no nothing, dead simple so spec isnt that huge afterall

Yeah, ive got a GT60, have had it for ages, its quite comedy its so big.

Noise is insane, i felt physically sick after driving it for a hour or so, just the noise, honestly, and im deaf as a post anyhow
And when you giving it loads, daaamn
Ears are still ringing, but its just THE coolest sound, a mega big port rotary, evil.

13000rpm dont take anything really, thats the beauty of rotaries, in testing IIRC Mazda got over 35000rpm from them on a bench dyno or something fucking stupid.
Main thing is giving it the breathing to make it WORTH revving that high, so HUGE ports and equally huge turbo.
And some relativley minor (in the grand scheme of things) lubrication mods IIRC, but dont know exactly what, if any, but some 2stroke style pre mix is wise...

I expect my 1.6 will be a good match for it once I've added my air filter. On a serious note, What does this car do the 1/4 mile in?

Cheers, Benni.

Low 9's I think. 150mph+ passes at the 1/4 mile point?

9.1@158 is its fastest, but its done 9.3@160mph a few times.

So yes, it does 160mph in a quarter of a mile from a standing start.

New one hes building will do 8s easy, possibly 7s.

Bugatti Veyron does 0-150 in 11.3secs, this RX7 does 0-160 in 9.3secs

whats the point, sierra rear suspension geometry cant handle launching flat out with 270bhp, never mind 1000

itl suddenly be a 13second car

this ones being fitted with a SR20 tho, hopefully S14 suspension too

Stav, I've sold an ex-rally RX7 to Denmark years ago and although it was nowhere near as fast as this car, revving to 13000 rpm and the 2-stroke-like noise they make is insane!
The one I sold had polycarbon windows, carbon doors, bonnet, boot, frontwings....it was a fucking deathtrap!
