Default What Year (Brakes Related)

Hello all.

I fancy a Series 2.... However i know little of them.

I'm considering Bazza's Red H plate in the for sale section if it's still available when i am ready to have a look, but i noticed it has drums on the back.

Did the S2's ever come with discs after a certain year?

Reports from the field say it's a clean car. It has done 141,000 - with the engine re-built to oversize spec about a year ago.

So, not really all about brakes i suppose, but any info is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Davie

S2's never came with rear discs. They can be converted, but trust me, they really aren't needed. The S2 is so light at the rear, that the factory drums are fine. If they can stop 350bhp from practically 170mph on a 2-mile runway, I think they are fine!!

Bazza's car is top notch for the money. He really is a bufty. We have done some work on it and from what we have seen, it's really nice.

Nice. Just need to correct that the engine wasn't re-built a year ago, it was 9k ago, so about 2 years.

One thing i am concerned about, it that i am coming from a Stage 1 200SX, loadsa rear wheel drive fun, but it commands much respect or it will bite you.

Whats it like trying to get nigh on 200hp onto the road through FWD?

And what about gearboxes, are they up to the job, this car has an uprated clutch, so will that help loads?

I can't lie, the 200SX will certainly get the power down better. But a Stage 1 200SX will not feel as fast as a 200bhp S2. The Paddle-Clutch will help transmit the power, but it's still going to wheelspin.

I LOVE Front-wheel-drive. There is a totally different style to driving one fast, compared to Rear-wheel-drive. You can push your luck alot more. Unlike the RWD, providing you don't enter a corner too fast, you can do what you like once you are in the corner. It will push on, which you can control with the throttle, where the RWD will just break-away and hit a lamp-post!!

Heh, yeah, there have been a few 'moments' with my car and wet roads....

More questions....

Did all S2's come with a LSD?

In fact, i know i'm re-asking questions that have been asked a million times, is there a FAQ guide of buying guide for S2's that i can read and stop pestering you?

Search doesn't seem to yield much.

Thanks again!

S2 buying guide mate.
Think that covers just about any topic you wish to ask, and if it doesn't stick a post back up no here.

All Series 2's have drums on the back And they have lsd's.

I have a gearboxman.co.uk Stage 1 box in mine and has done the job so far at 190 horses, with an AP Organic clutch

Can be heavy at slow speeds when parking, etc. Other than that they should drive ok and like any other car without power steering. You just have to remember everytime you get back into it after driving a PAS car Can make for a hairy moment when cornering if you forget
