Can anyone tell me if the rs1600i (or any mk3 escort) share the same boot,doors,sunroof,underdash components etc as the mk4 escort? I know the front wings, headlight+indictors are different but I`ve just brought a white rs1600i shell that i`m going start restoring soon as its happens that i`ve got a shed load of mk4escort/mk2 orion bits still in the shed.

I`ll probably be putting a resto thread up later on in the other forum section as i`ve not done much apart from cut all the rust out of the floor pan/bulkhead atm. I`m toying with the idea of a complete sierra floorpan as the front section has prity much all gone. I`ll try and get some pics up abit later.

Any info would be great.

share the same boot,doors,sunroof?

doors need modyfying to fit mk 3 door handles, inside

boot is different on the rear lip so the 16i spoiler will not fit

sunroof is different, but if you cut the runners down 25mm it will fit, more holes to drill in roof though

fords used to do a conversion plate for the doors, its only a small piece of metal

 

As Stevie says the doors and Sunroof will fit with a little modding, boot and bonnets a no no, i had an RSi with a mk4 tailgate fitted and it looked awful

If you having trouble with parts keep an eye out on fleabay for a povo spec mk3, tatty ones go for pennies and you can use it as a donor

 

I`ll probably end up using mk4 doors then......I`m sure I`ll be able to sort something out.

Depending on how hard bits are is source I`m not sure if its going to be a just a fun stripped out show/trackday car or my daily drive. I`ve been quite lucky so far got the tail lights,headlights,grill and afew interior bits off ebay.
