hello all, im just looking at getting some new number plates, what i want to now is what is the law reguarding size, if you leave the numbers the same size can you cut off some of the plate around it

you need 10mm around the edges of the letters

can you remember them gay looking onces that had all the bits cut out and are odd shapes?

Ive got same size letters and proper spacing and im sure the guy in the shop said it has to have 11mm or 12mm around the edge.

as for the plates, didn't they only have to have a few mm round the outside of the letters? i remember seeing a pic of someone with a jigsaw chopping their plates about

Its either 11mm or 13mm for vehicles before 2001, depending on what group you go for.

 

legal sized letters but had about 2-3mm border, had them on the car about 4 years, pulled about 20 times in that period, never mentioned anything about the plates!



will i be as lucky with the german font'ed metal plates???? hmmm

 

Still illegal though those mate. Id have been pulled and fined for those round my way.
