Id use a fiesta as its lighter and cheaper. Also i wouldnt use an rs1800 id get a 1.6 Si and put a 2.0 engine in . That way its actually cheaper than rs1800 and has a bit more torque.

I use an Rs1800

No special mods on it at all apart from a cheap spax suspension kit and i run it on trackday tyres and race pads and it suprises cars with twice the power on track!
Recently added a rollcage though after seeing a nasty accident lol.

rs2000 all the way, more power out the box, simple chip exhaust filter and a t/body form one of the guys from www.rs2000-16v.com and you have got 175bhp, they handle better than the rs1800 also, look what marco has done and thats on a standard engine

I had a RS1800 as a track car and it fared pretty well. I would recommend a decent suspension and brakes upgrade and some good tyres as handling will be important as it's not the fastest of cars.

Wildheart and Steve B off here have both had RS1800's as track cars and I've seen them more than hold their own against higher specced cars.

I'd use the Fiesta, due to the size...

was coming home from uni on the motorway and it died, head gasket went, took the head off and the bores were all shit up and was a bit of a mess so i just bought a 2nd hand engine with lower miles,

superchip makes alot of difference, put it on and a panel filter and it feels smoother and revs better and higher

was pretty cheap aswell paid about £65 for the chip and then £58 or sumthing to get it reflashed at graham goode racing today
