Because the price of things in a very competitive market is dictated by the cost to the supplier and the minimum markup they can make in order to turn a reasonable profit.
They have just had to buy stocks at higher prices so they have to sell them at a higher price too.

and why has EVERYONE decided to jump abord this "oh no, fuel is screwed, it's going to cost us more, lets put the prices up anyway even thoguh we dont need to" bandwagon?
tesco and morrisons stop selling fuel until they can get decent stuff in again
everyone else shouldn't be made to put u their prices should they
what happens to al this dodgey fuel in the mean time? it's not as if you can sell it, you can't tip it down the toilet, you can't keep it securly in the cupbaord under the stairs, soemones got to accept responsibility and, as ususal, no one does and it us motorists who get bent over a barrel and rogered sensless

It's the oil producers in the middle east that control the oil price by not putting enough on the market, It's nothing to do with the petrol producers or retailers.

Do you think businesses profits and loss should be dictated by fairness and not market forces? LOL
Tesco didnt fuck up, they just bought fuel in like normal, the fuel was faulty so they essentially will no doubt of "sent it back under warranty" and then had to buy some more, and they had to buy it quickly from a market with restricted supply, therefore the price went up, so therefore they are having to sell it for more.
i expect itll never drop again all a fucking great con.
the fuel is ordered and produced weeks in advance so there should be enough readily available
something needs to give in the country instead of the poor old motorists

Ah silly me, I see what you mean.
Tesco gets fucked over with some shite petrol.
Then tesco gets fucked over by the bad publicity.
As a result tesco gets fucked over by less sales making it harder to stay in the black
and the response should be "run all your petrol stations at a loss till you go out of business"
I see, i think im fetting this fairytale economics now

just because you have a captive market doens't mean you should be screwing your customers over should you
lets go back to the scenario where it's a small business who have got some dodgey fuel in, you can't expect them to ramp up the prices and the local comunity pay the extra cost for it, they'd soon go out of business
with companies like tesco's who make billions upon billions, they could have kept prices low and been made out to be the good guys in this fiasco rather than branded with the same "you are all greedy robbing bastards" brush
yes i'm having a bit of a bitch and moan, but soething should hav ebeen done about it when it first cropped up, as ususal, tony is sitting on his arse telling us how gratefull we should be about accepting his road charging system

i wonder how many people will actually bother to get the compo for their cars from the like sof tesco's and co?
all the while they are getting richer and richer and we just sit here and suffer in the silence
the government won't do anything because they hate the motorist just as much as everyone else does, yet we put more into the economy than anyone else and less than 20% of what we DO put in is actually invested in anything like the road infrustructure and we STILL don't do anything baout it
yes, lets spend all the money that we should be using filing in the potholes paying for people to be let out of big medical contracts and then blame everyone other than ourselves for the mess the nhs is in
lets spend all this money recruting the right amount of lesbian coppers just so we can say "look at us, we can fit in" rather than actually putting people away by proper coppering
let the schoolkids run roit because we are too limp wristed as a country to actually say "oi you like cunt, stop fucking about or i'll give you a hiding"
the list goes on and on, but the root cause is us motorists, we are melting the ice caps and killing harmless poalr bears, we are digging up the countryside to put more roads in, we are pumping millons upon mimllions of gallons of muck into the air rather than the areoplanes that polute more than any car will itn it's lifetime (perhaps some cossies will but they won't be running long enough
)who cares how many cars there are on the road, there could be 50 million, but there are only 22 millons drivers who can actually drive so how are they going to be causing more and more traffic and more and more polution?
