Hi all. This link may already have been posted on here (it's just turned up on fiestaturbo.com), but it's to an Aubergine Escort Cosworth Lux on eBay at £6,300 in a Classified Ad:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1996-FORD-ESCO...QQcmdZViewItem
It belonged to my grandfather, who sold it towards the later end of last year, with around 65,000 miles on it. He was the third owner. A relative of ours is in the police force, so we'll be running checks tomorrow, and my grandad will be contacting the garage who bought it from him tomorrow. Does anyone have any info on this car at all, and where it should be, or who should be in its possession at this moment in time?

Mate it's a scam as usual. There has been about 15 different ones. All they have done is found a picture of the car on the internet and used it in their advert.
The car wont be stolen and the details will be made up.
I think someone on here's car was used a picture a few times. All you can really do is contact Ebay but as it's (No offence) nothing to do with you, i doubt much will happen..

Its not a stolen car its a stolen advert, wont be there much longer, if you contact the seller they will ask for money to be transfered up front then promptly dissappear.... The advert would have already been on ebay, they will have copied it and put a MUCH lower price hoping to nab a stupid greedy buyer...

Okie doke...just didn't want a possible lead to go astray if the garage, or new owner had had it stolen. One or two people have told me they've seen the car being used in an ad before, so hopefully that's all it is, happening again. Why do these people advertise at such ridiculous prices? They must be extremely dumb!
Cheers for the replies guys.

I've reported similar items to, and reported one very suspicious Cosworth replica to Crimestoppers...no idea what gets done about these things though. Thankfully since this issue is being dealt with by family members in detective positions in the police force, I will hear what has been done and if anything dodgy involving the car has gone on, or if it really is just photo fraud. The mileage is correct, which is what makes me that bit more suspicious.
They tell you the car is abroad (in this case it's Hungary) and ask you to pay £xxxx for the car via western union or a similar method and they will ship the car to you. You pay up and never receive the car.

That's usually the case, though this one (and the R34 GTR) are listed as being in London, so I can only assume some absent-minded people would pay deposits without seeing the car(s) because they're so "well-priced".
They always do list them as being in the UK and often London but if you email the seller they will tell you the car isn't in the country, they are working abroad & took the car with them blah blah blah.
If you're bored try it out and wind them up

The whole advert is a joke!
A few pictures of the whole car, a 2 line description! Ohhh and the user name “christine31ho” LOL
Everything about this advert is total bullshit, price, location details and the fact he states “perfect condition”
If you stupid enough to forward money to someone for a car you haven’t seen or a person you haven’t met then it your own fault for getting scammed!!.
Don’t get me wrong you have to be a real piece of sh** to scam people!.
Also Ebay don’t give a sh** because they make money from listings, in fact the probably encourage this type of activity (in my opinion).

Good news, means it's only photo fraud rather than vehicle theft
