to get em more accurate?
ie if youve changed wheels, or just want em to be a bit more accurate than they are as standard.
is this a job that any old mechanic can do or does it require specialist equipment?

do what ive done on my mini jim...mountain bike computer with the sensor mounted on the back wheel on a bracket, you just have to cut the 2 core wire to lengthen it ...mount the computer on dash and bobs your uncle...has odometer, average speed, highest speed, clock, timer etc and was a tenner on ebay

Electronic speedos that require a pick up sensor on the wheel and that can be calibrated should be preety accurate as well.
GPS systems allways make me think some "big brother" could find out what speeds i've been doing.

I think 'most' of our speedo's are mechanical so would be difficult to calibrate. I know mine is 'way off'!!
I have an origin B2 though and the refresh rate is a bit slow!!
Another option is the SPA one... top speed recall etc etc bout £175 iirc.
oh, hang on......

Nahh big bro wont find out shite because they cant use it in evidence due to the fact that the date logging does not store time and location that said speeds are reached just the route that you took
My peak speed readout on street pilot is currently 146mph plod have seen it many times and smiled
The
Nope the fastest refresh rate is ONCE per second any faster than that and its NASA standard especially at six times NO WAY . However once is more than good enough
Jim you can have your speedo calibrated its preformed by unclipping the speedo cable and blu tacking a small needle/match etc on there .
You then lift the drive wheels from the ground and draw a line on the tyre wall you complete 10-20 turns of the WHEEL and someone in the car counts how many times the match goes round . This info coupled with your rolling radius will be used to calibrate your speedo
Here are some links for you smeghead

From: Macclesfield - you'll never leave....!
as spadge says, with most single point ajustment(zero) instruments - (like nearly all mechanical speedos) the best way is to set it so it is correct at 50 % of its range or depending on how fast yuo go etc, 50% of the useable range, rather than setting right at zero and then be gradually out the more it went up.
the road angel takes ages to update
did anyone see the gt40 in the car park ( ok grass area) on national day in blue gulf type colors ( was parked near my cabrio so i understand if ya was too amazed by me m3 mirrors to look at it
