Simple;
Lorry Driver failed to notice the body was still up or had mysteriously lifted on it's own, continued to drive under the gantry, the body hit at the top, the chassis / cab kept going and broke free from the body.
The Vauxhall driver was asleep and didn't see any of this happening and ran into it.

I drive an 8 wheeled tipper, and literally without jacking the thing up to full height, there is no way that could get up there!
I had thought maybe the driver had knocked the tip lever while on the move, but
1) Most tip levers have safety catches (you have to manually hold the lever all the time for it to work)
2) You'd notice straight away. Even empty that's a lot of weight up in the air
3) The biggie - the tipper doesn't work unless a PTO is engaged, usually a dash switch, which would be hard to knock on or off accidentally.
So fook knows
Could the body have somehow become detached from the truck and been dragged behind the lorry? The driver saw this, so slammed on the anchors. Old giffer in the Corsa rams into the back of the truck body, forcing it up in the air using the back of the truck like a launch ramp. It jams under the gantry. Matey trucker legs it in the now chassis cab thinking SHIT!!!
Be interesting to see what suggestions people come up with or what ACTUALLY happened.

I think a stray nub ends responsible. Going off whats been said in the smoking while driving thread. I reckon a stray nub lodged on the hydraulic ram and the resulting fierce heat made the oil expand, thus lifting the body.
O.K theory no. 2;
It was on a lorry full of scrap lorry bodies stacked very high, something shifted just before the driver got to the gantry, the body caught at the top, fell off and jammed, Corsa hit it, lorry driver didn't notice, or did and cleared off.
Looking at how dark it might have been I bet the Corsa driver just didn't see it against the dark sky, not the sort of thing you normally find abandoned on the motorways
I bet there will be some CCTV somewhere showing what lorry it was.

I'd guess the concertina shaped thing at the top (against the gantry) is a sheet, but directly beneath the ARROW sign on the gantry, what are the two red rectangular shapes?

Blow the pic up in photoshop or something and you can see them clearly.
I thought the tailgate might be under the Corsa but it's not visible on 200% plus improved contrast.
