he wants to know, How easy is it to change a head gasket on a Saxo 1.1 and what's involved? any idea of costs for parts etc?

very cheap if not from main dealer, but need timing keys iirc....

 

give GSF (german swedish french) parts a call see how much all the bits are,cant be too expensive!

 

Cheers folks. How hard is setting up the timing though? Could it be done by someone with a Haynes manual, for instance? Thing is, I know nothing about setting timing, but I am pretty good working on practical stuff when I put my mind to it, so I'm fairly confident I could do it with the right instruction.

 

couldnt you mark the belt and pully so they end up in the same place after

if the head gaskets gone, which is very common on saxos and 106's you also will want to remove the rad and have it chemically flushed cos they fill with sludge

also use some flushing oil in the engine for a few miles after to remove the mayonnaise that gunks it up.

the head gasket job itself is fairly straighforward, and the parts are cheap.

 

So what do I need then? The gasket itself, the timing keys... new bolts? Or would the gasket come as part of a kit?

Also, would the head need to be taken to be skimmed?
