Default Is this a S1 Turbo radiator?

Just a quickie -

I'm after a radiator for a S1 Turbo for a project I'm working on. I've found this one on Ebay

Is this the right rad? It doesn't look much narrower than a standard XR3i rad!

Cheers
Mark

youve cocked the link up mate

But for reference, a s1 rad is the same size, the brackets are in different places to push it right over to allow for the IC

Here's a link that actually works! Perhaps it is the right one because the bracket does look different!

xr3i - xr3 rad are different to a s1.... narrower in thickness...it has nothing to do with the intercooler.

by a recored one, your completey wasting your time with shite like that....its ok if its just a tempary fix to keep the car on the road, but thats false economy buying something in that condition.

What's wrong with a new XR3i rad? It's pretty much a straight fit and should be about 40£.

rswoza - do you mean the cores themselves are narrower? The one on my XR3i is about an inch and a half thick - is the S1 thinner than that then?

I was planning to have it recored - that one does look in a sorry state. I'm just trying to check that it is the right one. It seems to have the mounting holes at the bottom for the Kenlowe though so does that mean it is?

Cheers

The car has a new XR3i rad in it already but I assumed I coudn't use it if I wanted to fit a turbo and intercooler. There certainly doesn't seem enough room as it stands.

I had heard the S1 rads were a different size to the 3i ones before. Just need to get to the bottom of it really. I don't want to replace a perfectly good rad if it will do the job - just sounds like it won't.

Well yes there is that to it aswell, but to the untrained eye, they are near on the same physical dimensions, its the brackets that are the obvious give away.

And that is a S1 rad Mark

Thanks guys.

What about this little beauty? The pictures aren't as clear but the bracket seems to be further across as I would expect...

Is this a S1 rad as well?

Cheers

Lovely - so a final question before I part with my hard earned-

Can I make the nearly new 3i rad I've got fit by adjusting the brackets? Seems simple enough but if it really is too thick then I guess its not possible?

The XR3i rad fits nicely with the turbo and IC. Absolutely no problem.

Are you sure Why would ford of moved the brackets if the 3i one fitted?

It's a 2 min thing to shift the one bracket which is off, or just use the bracket from the old one. It's just screwed if I recall. It's not an issue in anycase, more or less a direct fit.

Hmmmmm, im sure all the brackets need relocating, and all the ones ive seen, the brackets are part of the radiators frame, so you have to cut them off
