testing revcounter feed

my revcounter (2nd hand) keeps stopping working and then starts working etc. etc.
i wanna test if its shonky wiring or shonky revcounter... can i put a multimeter on the feed wire n see if its still getting a signal when it stops workin? or will my £10 digital multimeter not be good enuf to see the pulses etc?

try another set of clocks jim, rev counters were a problem on sierras-sold quite a few sets over the years because of this problem.
mk2 xr2's seemed to suffer also-used to sell loads of clocks for them.

i just gave a set of clocks to my mate jim, you could of had them. If i get a set of clocks with the pulse speedo i'll send you mine if you want.
