would it be a good idea to have a proper water injection set up for a track car? pro's and cons?
the car will be running say 190bhp plus 75bhp of NOS. it will have an intercooler spray sorted, but will a proper water injection set up be a good idea or just a waste on the car? as i dont want to install a kit if its really never gonna need to be used, as i wasnt sure if its really only comesin to its own on really high powered motors, if that makes sense

I remember asking a question on water injection a while ago.
I beleive stu's response was (and this is it in simple form)
"Water injection doesn't technically gain you power. Power is lost through excesive heat - but with water injection that loss is less"
So you dont gain power as such - you just lose less
correct me if i wrong though stu!

yeah cheers peeps, i know what its for etc, and realise you dont get extra power, but if really the system isnt really gonna get used or is a waste on that particular car then i may as well not bother, and get bigger nitrous jets
what about putting alcohol thru it
what about putting alcohol thru it

unfortunatly...seeing that i have a list of things to do to the car...i will not be seeing you in february on the track!!!
car will be approx ready and rolling............2006 ( I shit you not)
ERL actually state in the bumpf that comes with the kit that you should use a methanol based screen wash.
I have a very efficient front mount intercooler and despite low ACT's with the water injection on the car does seem to pull more cleanly.

if you running nitrous, dont bother...
...infact dont even bother with an intercooler
... do you know how cold that shit is!
the lines frost over after you use it ffs! and it can give youa cold burn if it touches you!

Depends on what sort of ACTs you are getting
. If you inject water into the inlet system when the ACTs are not suficiently high enough to vaporise the water in the heat exchange process, not only will you LOSE power, you will get bad misfires.
The water injection strategy should be based on boost AND ACT temps and should NOT be used other than to bolster the best intercooler set up you have - i.e. it should not be fitted until you have exhausted all your intercooling options first. So basically what I am saying is if you fit a good enough intercooler (which you can easily do with only 190bhp), WI will be completely redundant and would never activate on a boost / ACT strategy with a decent front mounted intercooler at 190bhp.

From: Essex... and Birmingham!
I ran a genuine 500 cooler, BUT my water injection ran almost constantly on track after 1 lap with my old MD240 Turbo...
SOOOO as mike said, it all depends on what ACTS you are getting!
I bet the WI will hardly ever come on with the GT35 though.

I've just ordered my WI kit from aquamist, but mine is heading for australia I figure its gonna be needed a lot more than in the UK!
so how do you get it to operate using ACT's as well as boost?
does mikes ACT jobby provide for it?

UH,
Yes, it is an extra cost option though
. It is then user programmable so that when it sees Xpsi (pressure switch with the Aquamist) AND your user defined ACT temps, only then will the WI fire up.

UH,
£25 above the normal price.
BM,
I haven't got time to list every single product every single one of these companies does
. There are about 1000 different items just for Safety Devices
