spoke to burtons today, even they have now run out of genuine ford water pumps.... does anyone have any other ideas as i dont really want to put a pattern part due to the spec of the engine...

dont think the pumps were ever made by ford anyway, jus stamped? might be wrong...pattern ones are fine i'd say

 

Just get one with the cast iron impelller, not the pressed steel one. S1 owners don't have the choice anymore I'm afraid.

 

unless they fit an S2 pump

Sure, then a S2 alternator bracket, water pipes, different length alternator belt, and the s2 alternator tensioner are needed.

FORD like all other manufacturers do not make their own parts, they are bought in from third party suppliers, who continue to make these even when not supplying the original manufacturers.
The good ones are oe suppliers with same warranty, and same tooling, as it would not be cost effective to tool up for all the little parts, the tooling is sold off to other people.
In short FORD did not make the pump to start with, and decent pattern will be just as good, most of the time if you stick to brand names, and OE stuff fails as well.

Pattern ones are fine.

The one on my RST doesnt actually have a cast iron impellar, its got a pressed steel one, and mine runs PROPER cool .......
