There's just one thing about my Escorts I dislike: The dreaded tinworm!!!

Had a closer look at my cars today. There's some serious work to do. And the bad thing is: I can't do any welding/painting myself so it's gonna be expensive.

On my red one there's some serious rust at
- rear wheel arches (beneath the plastic)
- right hand side rear chassis rail
- front seat mounting points

On my mercury grey one:
- right hand side rear chassis rail (same as on the red one)
- sills (around the rear jacking point)

I'll try to post up some pics tomorrow.

Am I the only one who's RST is rotting away and do you all have minters or do we all fight the same battle?

I'd rather have a blown engine and a decent rot-free shell...

 

My 1st mercury grey S2 had alot of rot around the sunroof, when i blew(sorry my brother) the engine up, we decide to fix it and the rust. I took the front bumper off and the front end just fell apart, the sills had seen better days so i broke it.

I think ive been lucky with my black S2 as it seems to have not got much rust, we got it on my brothers ramps at work and couldnt believe that its never been welded and it doesnt need welding, ive got to take the front bumper off to fit my pace intercooler and if i find some rust ill treat it and respray it. So i think everyone has abit of rust somewhere

 

this is why ive spent time looking for a mint standard model car and ill just build a turbo to the spec i want.
my car is a 1.3 bonus in grey with only 59k on the clock
the only thing that wont be right is the log book but that doesnt bother me
