Default Roof Skin

Just wondered if anybody has put a new skin on there s2 - if so how did you go about it?

Thanks for the info , couldnt find any info about this anywhere, wish I hadnt asked now as it looks like quite a job Mines not too bad just a few spots appering, been told I might be able to spot weld these and then fill and paint?

Sorry to piss on your chips, but I'm afraid that if you have rust spots, that's it. New roof is the only way.

Ive herd that spot welding warps the roof im sure someone said that filling the holes with lead is a better way to do it

Its a shame as the rest of the car is totally solid... someone said as long as you spot weld one at a time and let it cool in-between the roof shouldnt warp! think I might go down the filling with lead path, sounds safer

I'm afraid you will be disappointed. Once the sunroof is removed and you look in the cavity between the inner and outer panels, you will be shocked.

To lead-load it will need to be back to good metal and to do this will be when you find the problems.

As christian says they may only look small now it's when you start to take it back to good metal when you really find out how bad it is Im sure TonyTurbo done his the way your on about ill see if i can find the picture's of his.

ive done 2 roof's but thay are a twat too do no point in welding it it does
warp then you spend a day trying to fill it and sand it to the same shape as the roof......

ive got one in my workshop now rotton roof ive found it its been bodged with another one placed on to of it a real wank job

ford still do the roof skins but there around £300

As you can see from above not a 5 min job even when you dont take the roof off

Thanks for all your comments guys, think I will try the lead root to keep rust at bay for now! looks like a new roof to sort it propely then.
