Default series1 using loads of oil?

My series 1 is using loads of oil. the drive is covered. had a look underneith and oil everywhere. but i don't think it's leaking from a seal. i,ve taken my dump valve off because i think it was spraying oil everywhere. theres quite a bit of oil in the boost pipes as well. i did a 600 hundread mile round trip on sunday and i was puttin in as much oil as i was petrol about 5 liters. the thing is that the car does not smoke at all. Please help thanks

The turbo oil return pipes go often. Another popular one is the sump gasket. It get blown easily if the crankcase breather or clogged up pipes freezes and the crankcase pressure has nowhere to escape.

The engine breathing heavy will almost certainly be worn bores/rings, which will mean it more than likely smokes too.

Do a compression test.

there's no smoke i've been told to take the breather pipe off from the metering head and put it into a bottle and see if it collects oil, i've done this today but now the car stalls when ever you stop it won't idle??????

Your lucky it runs at all now you've done that?!

You need to blank the hole off on the airbox and then it will run fine.

My new S1 is using a lot of oil but it aint leaking tho?!

It smokes a lot so I didnt a compressin test, apparently
if it creates compression then drops the rings have gone
but if it doesnt create any compression at all the valves
aint sitting right, which is the case with mine. Only got
123psi on cylinder1, the rest dont hold any

So the heads off this weekend for new seals, gaskets and
tappets, and re-seating the valves!!

Anyone know what the compression should be?

Who told u that?! No compression could also be other things, head gasket being one!

And did the same person advise changing the tappets?

The compressor tester I used had an instruction manual which I read before use and thats where i got my information!!

Im changing the tappets because I doubt they've ever been renewed!!
Thought I might as well seeing as im stripping the head down.

Im changing the head gasket obviously when I take the head off, so hopefully that will rule that out.

Yeah I know it could still possibly be the rings but for the time being im ruling out what I know.

You'd be better off finding a definate answer as to where the compression is being lost before the head comes off!

And tappets.........you are wasting your time mate, either fit a new cam AND tappets, or just don't bother......

What would your recommendations be for finding the
loss of compression? Are there any other ways of telling
if the rings have gone?

Im guessing an old worn cam would fuck the new tappets then?

Cylinder 1 holds 123psi which I thought was low,
thought it should be closer to 140,
and 2,3,and 4 didnt hold any!!

As the instructions told me, if it doesnt hold any it
indicates valves not sitting right but if it does but
drops the rings have gone. Cylinder 1 doesnt drop!!

well mines pissing out all over the place my drives fucked wit all the oil i think it's dripping on to the driveshaft and then spraying it all over the underside of the car as it's also covered in oil. Could it be the piston rings even if the cars not smoking??

Its in the back of the block directly above the driveshaft, and it screws into the oil feed line, its VERY common for the OE ones to crack and piss oil out!

That oil is coming out of the pipe maybe

Could be a number of things, could be as simple as a blocked breather, right to the other extreme of knackered bores/rings
