Default Turbo > Exhaust Downpipe seal

Chaps, I seem to be unable to seal the exhaust downpipe where it meets the turbo. I've tried it in all manner of positions but it just wont seal. It's a brand new mongoose exhaust and the flange seems quite a bit wider than the raised circular part on the turbo.

Should there be a gasket on there or should the join be purely metal-metal????

HELP

Paste! Lol, I tried that but it's far too hot up there and it burnt and flaked off.

TRY de rusting the seat with wire brush in drill, as it may have small pieces of carbon stuck on there and check flange on new exhaust has not been distorted.
Check also that the seam is not causing this on new flange file it off if necessary.

The other thing, as the flange is offset at an angle, the clamp part (That the bolts go through) doesn't sit at the same angle.

I'm confused and I think I need to see some pics, anyone got any to hand?
