Running in a new engine

How many miles and what revs do you run when you run a new engine.

From: Surrey BUT IF UR A FIT WOMEN

500 upto 3000 rpm then up to 3500 rpm till you have done 1000 miles
but town not on the motorway so you load up the engine
if you do motorway keep the rpm not at a constant level

Basically: whatever your engine builder says....

Seriously though, there's a couple of theories on running an engine in nowadays, so it really is best to do as your engine builder advises.
