when you say only getting power at 18 degrees what power you on about? peak power or you mean it's running like a bag off shit unless you set it at 18 degrees. has anyone been at the cam belt end of the cam shaft any more info on your spec might help diagnose the problem

yup runs like shite as soon as it starts to boost, feels like you have sudenly took your foot off the gas,
its had a new timming belt fitted and both crank and cam pullys are spot on,
engine is a 1.6 s2 engine, its a donor engine and had been reconditioned by the previous owner but number 4 valves do sound a little knocky,
i had to change the oil pump gasket a year ago and i had a look up at the pistons and they look new, clean silver colour,
the breakers says that the engine had bigger valves fitted,
it has blue ford racing leads
full stainless steal zaust
newist turbotecknics turbo
drilled air box with cleaned panel filter(green one)
standard intercooler with boost pipes diverted away fro hot zaust
boost air temp guage that dosnt realy go over 40c on boost
knock sensor mounted off the engine and hole blocked with old knock sensor
all boost pipes are tight 99% sure theres no air leaks
would an adjustable cam wheel help anything?
im using v power petrol

Get it to a tuner mate, something doesnt sound right and its a matter of time before the head gasket goes.

P.S you didn't buy my bottom end off eBay a while back then?

This is common on ESCII

I can sort if for u if u can get to cheshire.

BTW - i have run plenty of cars at 20BTDC.

I rarely use a timing light to setup RST's now - as i dont know the content of the ignition map.

If you're in wolverhampton. The best thing to do would be to take a trip over to norris motor sport. Probably the best place to go.

20btdc is that crank to cam timing? so thats like putting the timming belt 1 tooth out? advance or retard? how much can i get an adgustable cam pully wheel for?
ive had this stinking van for 7 years now, it was great for the first 30 mins taking it home then a valve spring broke, since then ive changed everything and i took it to aldons it was doing 120 bhp at the wheels at 1 bar boost,he called me and said whats up with it ill not go there again, but he did say it was running rich top end but that was bcos i had a leak on one of the pipes but ive fixed that after 7 years of no power,
cheshire? how fars that from wolverhampton? thanks for your help guys

if its only started to run bad after the belt change, then its got to be incorrect cam timing.

I agree with the rolling road setup. You don't want to be melting the engine. I've been told it only takes as little as 30 seconds to do serious damage.

It will have to be mega rich/lean to have no power,

could be a engine/ management fault or even a zorst block.

best take it to a tuner.

Well its either spend £100 on that or blow your engine up and pay for the rebuild.

Im not being funny but if your a bit tight with your money may i suggest you don't modify your car..........................?

The cheapest wideband AFR meter i've seen is £170, to buy, then add maybe £75-150 to fit.

Sounds like PJ's offered you a narrowband AFR, this wont be anygood for tuning any cars.
A wideband is what you need.
