Default Temp. on 2.0 DOHC

got a sierra 2.0 DOHC and i'm a tad worried about the heat under the bonnet. The temp. guage sits around the 'M' mark which is fine!

BUT

The rocker cover gets really hot, i know they get hot anyway, but it seems to get a little too hot for my liking.

Is this normal for these engines? and what should i do about it?

was thinking of just removing that sound-proofing stuff or whatever it is on the bonnet and maybe have a manual override for the fan.

Just wondering if it's a problem.. i mean the car runs fine all day long.

dohc fan switch activates at quite a high temperature (100+degs i think!) so its quite a ho running engine compared to say a yb or v6

nope i only had v6es, i just know about the fan switch coz i tried a .0 dhoc one in mine and it made it overheat coz it cut in so late (i used a cossie on instead which was much more suitable for my V6)

also temp gauges vary a LOT between cars, theyre NOT accurate at all!

my 4x4 sierras sat just blow the red when it was normal, my 4i sat in the middle, my saph sits below the M!

leave it be its ok
ive got a g reg dohci sierra sapp
got the sound-proofing stuff removed
on a cosworth 4x4 bonnet still seems to run hot
but not on motorways
but temp never goes over 3/4 if it does
turn your heater on full blast will cool it down
be carefull these alloy heads fook up very easy.
